It’s been a big week for Drake.
First, the artist confirmed on multiple tracks off his album Scorpion that he is indeed a father. Now, one day after the new album’s Friday launch, we’ve also learned that Scorpion broke a big streaming record: It earned the most streams on its very first day, on both Spotify and Apple Music.
A Spotify rep confirmed to Variety that Scorpion had broken the service’s own first-24-hours record. The rep provided no official numbers, but Spotify Charts — a website that tracks individual song streams on the service — we can see that Drake’s total listens for the past day hover somewhere north of 130 million, across all of Scorpion‘s songs combined. The new album’s tracks also occupy almost the entire top 20 of Spotify’s Top 200 chart.
According to Variety, the albums to hold the previous records for first-day streaming are Drake’s own mixtape, More Life on Apple Music; and Post Malone’s April 2018 album Beerbongs & Bentleys, on Spotify.
Congrats to Drake on a week full of milestones.
